The Grotto
Mary told Bernadette to dig in the ground in the Grotto and in doing so she unearthed the spring which now runs into the baths and the holy water taps. We followed Mary's instructions to drink the water and bathe in it. Including a very special group water liturgy which we celebrated together near the Grotto. Our Pilgrimage was centred at the Grotto where Mary appeared to Bernadette and spoke to her many times, giving her instructions to call on people to come in procession, and for a church to be built above the site. On our first morning in Lourdes, and on many other occasions we visited the Grotto, to pray as a group, with other pilgrims and for the celebration of Mass.
