Bernadette's House & Our Hotel

On Tuesday morning we visited Bernadette's paternal house where she was born and lived her early life until poverty drove the family to live in the single room of the Cachot, the old prison. Bernadette also spent some of her life as a shepherdess, reminders of this are to be found in sculpture and in the replica of her sheepfold at the Cité St. Pierre. We rounded off the morning with an icecream stop nicely timed to coincide with the first drops of rain…. In the afternoon we celebrated our first Mass together as a group. As the weather was not improving we decided to play it safe and stayed in the hotel, in a cosy reception room on the ground floor. We may have been a bit unsure before, but our group spirit had been well and truly raised the evening before by a chance meeting with group 87 who taught us a couple of songs to get us started. Everyone was in good form to come together as a real family group straight away and our Group Mass was a real focus for this.
