Fair Trade Fortnight

Fairtrade Fortnight is an annual campaign led by the Fairtrade Foundation which aims to draw attention to the issue of ethical trade and to raise awareness about Fairtrade products and the FAIRTRADE Mark.

Fairtrade Fortnight 6th-19th March will involve schools, universities, colleges and businesses who are planning awareness raising activities across the county.  This year’s slogan is ‘Make Fairtrade Your Habit’.
Each year Fair Trade in
Norfolk and it's members organise activities for Fairtrade Fortnight. NEAD can help anyone wishing to set up an event by:
Providing publicity materials such as leaflets, posters or window stickers
Sharing information, contacts and resources from past events

Providing teaching materials and guest speakers for schools

Publicising all the activities for the Fortnight via the media, leaflets and the Fair Trade in Norfolk Website.
If you would like to find out more or you are planning your own event for the Fortnight and need more ideas and support, you can contact Finbarr Carter

NEAD, 38 Exchange Street, Norwich, NR2 1AX

Fair Trade Teaching Resources

Resources about Fairtrade have been created by AST Jean Kiekopf, for use in KS3 and KS4 English lessons. We have also made resources for KS3 ICT.  They have been designed to raise the issues around Fairtrade and to stimulate students into discussion and hopefully action. Samples of the students work from Framingham Earl High School will be up on the NEAD board at the PDC Norwich, in February.

ICT Resources for Water

Water is an excellent theme to introduce a global dimension into the curriculum.  I have created a page of resources which would be particularly useful in ICT.  These include an introduction to modelling using statistics about household water use and an online survey. Remember, World Water Day is 22nd March.

Recommended Website – Global Dimension

This is the best website I have found for Global Resources.  It has a comprehensive and easy to search database of activities.  These not only include books and packs to order, but links to free resources on a variety of websites.  You can search by theme, age group and/or subject.

It also has a detailed calendar of important Global Education dates and an excellent free email newsletter.
